Nutrition Facts on Menus?

Posted on July 3, 2008

Recently ordinances in New York City and parts of California have been passed that require restaurant chains with 15 or more locations to provide nutrition facts on menus and menu boards. Some of the information that will be required on the menus and boards of these locations are calories, grams of saturated fat and trans fat, grams of carbohydrates, and milligrams of sodium.

I think this is a great idea. I don’t necessarily think that this will change the world, but I do think that people will be able to make better choices when they eat out. At least you will know what you are putting into your body instead of convincing yourself that a food you know isn’t great for you “isn’t that bad.”

What do you think about this? If you lived in an area that required restaurants to post nutrition facts on menus and boards would it affect your food choices? Feel free to comment.
