Do What You Love
Posted on October 22, 2008
Another guest post from my wife Emily while I am away.
So, I love swimming. It is one of my favorite forms of exercise. I was a member of my high school swim team and I love the refreshing feeling after working out in the pool. Plus, it is something I can do to stay active while I am pregnant that is easier on my body.
So, don’t tell Blake I said this, but he was not always a good swimmer. His first swim in a sprint triathlon was pretty funny to watch…no goggles and doggy paddling the whole way!
Since then, he has come a long way. His stroke and technique have improved a ton and he enjoys swimming more than he used to, but it’s still not his favorite thing. He would prefer a good bike ride any day.
The thing is, staying active is way easier when you enjoy what you’re doing. Why spend time doing an activity that you despise? That’ll kill your motivation pretty fast.
Find something that you love…swimming is what keeps me active, what does it for you? Try a variety of activities, like yoga, racquetball, or hiking and see what suits you. Whatever it may be, do what you enjoy and do what keeps you moving.

I totally agree. If you stick with something long-term you have to find something you like to do.
I second this! Or third… Nice post! Thanks Blake!
I was on my high school swim team also! Oh, and I won’t tell “M” that you are not Blake either
