Change YOU Can Believe In

Posted on November 5, 2008

Change.  That’s a word we’ve all heard thrown around lately.  We (America) elected who we thought would be the best choice to lead our great country and we also were able to cast our votes for our local leaders.

Good.  We did our part for our country and we will continue to do so.  But what about a change for ourselves? When will we change our lifestyles and live a little healthier?

Elected officials can’t get us healthier.  They can’t eat fruits, vegetables, and other healthy things for us. They can’t go for a walk, swim, bike ride, or run for us.  They can’t stretch and strength train for us.  They can’t say “no thanks” to the chocolate cake/brownie/cookie for us.

No.  That’s our job.  We can’t elect anyone to do that for us.

America decided.  When will you decide to make some changes in your life?

Change.  How about a change YOU can believe in?

Yes Blake. If we wait for the politicians to do it for us, we will probably die waiting.

But politicians can force fast food restaurants to put nutrition info on their menus and ban fast food restaurants from opening in high density neighborhoods.

And they can also subsidize farmers to produce so much corn that they have to invent new ways of selling it to us…A nice big glass of HFCS anyone??

But you are right, they still can’t force us to eat unhealthy foods.

That’s our choice and our responsibility.

@DR I agree. Politicians can help create a better health environment, but at the end of the day, it’s on us. Thanks for the comment.

Good post. People enjoy blaming politicians for their own problems. Otherwise they may blame teachers, immigrants or anyone else they can think of. It is time for people for take responsibility for themselves, their situation, and for their own children.
