A TiVo Dinner?

Posted on December 2, 2008

So the other day I was about to watch a soccer game I had recorded on my Tivo and I saw an “Order Pizza Now” button.  I was curious so I clicked it.  Here’s what I saw:

I kinda chuckled because I found it funny that we can now order pizza without even leaving the couch.  Heaven forbid I get up, walk across the room to get my phone, and actually talk to a person to order my pizza.

I’m not saying that ordering pizza from your Tivo is bad, or that eating pizza at all is bad (don’t do it all the time, though!).  My point is this: If you can cook and eat at home, do it.  It tastes better and feels better.

My wife and I have realized that when we eat out, it’s just because of pure laziness.  We don’t want to take the time to cook, and we definitely don’t want to clean up after either.

Those are weak excuses.  Here’s what I made last night for my wife and I:

So you make the call.  Have a Tivo dinner or a home cooked meal.  I know which one I want.

Make cooking and eating healthy meals at home a good habit.

@James Hubbard, M.D., M.P.H. Haha thanks. At least my wife thinks I’m a decent cook! I’ve gotten better by just trying stuff.

Oh, I agree! We rarely do fast food (pretty much only when traveling), but I’ve noticed that my throat feels all coated after eating fast food – or poor quality restaurant food. So much better homemade!

I love to cook, my husband does not. So when we go out it’s because I’ve cooked enough that week and need a break! We don’t eat fast food, though I do love a good pizza and Greek salad every now and then. Going out for me is more of a pampering experience!

@Anonymous I understand. That’s usually what happens when we go out…Wife and I are tired of cooking! We try not to let it happen very often though. Thanks for sharing!

Blake, couldn’t agree more. If you plan ahead a bit and make sure you have some (healthy)food in the fridge you’ll be more inclined to get up and actually cook something. Also because I cook for a living I do enjoy letting someone else feed me every so often.

@Gavan I bet it’s nice to have people cook for ya once in a while!
