For the Sports Fan in Your Life

Posted on December 4, 2008

I’m a big sports fan.  I find myself watching a little ESPN every now and again… ok, probably a little (or a lot of you ask my wife) every day.  I also listen to sports radio when I’m out and about in my car as I try to follow what’s going on in the sports world.

A few weeks ago I read about a study that found that die-hard sports fans have a higher risk of heart disease and other chronic diseases.  Read the full article here

It’s an interesting read and I can see why sports fans can be at higher risk.  Snacks, food, and drinks associated with guys watching sports isn’t always thought of as healthy.

So to the sports fans out there, enjoy this 30-second ad/reminder from your friends at ESPN.  I’ve shown this video on my blog before, but it was probably before anybody reading now ever saw it.  Nevertheless, it’s a good reminder for all of us:

A healthy lifestyle is good for all of us, sports fans or not.

@Mark No problem. We all need to be reminded to take care of ourselves sometimes!

Good stuff! In fact, I find it strange - sports require athletes that are in prime shape - take good care of themselves, etc. And yet, when we watch them, it’s typically when we “pig out” - either watching on tv, or going to see the big game live.

Makes me wonder…. But then, I’m in line at the baseball game, buying a jumbo pretzel…Still, though…

@Lance So true. It’s like everything we know just goes out the window when it’s time to watch the game! Someday we’ll figure it out -hopefully.
