Good Stuff to Read 1/9/08
Posted on January 9, 2009
I hope everyone is having a great week and working hard towards your health goals. Here are some great articles I read this week that I hope help and motivate all of us.
Dealing with stress, anxiety, or some depression? Exercise might be able to help:
“It’s not a magic bullet, but increasing physical activity is a positive and active strategy to help manage depression and anxiety.”
From an article at MayoClinic.com titled Depression and anxiety: Exercise eases symptoms.
I read a great post from Weighty Matters about calories. Here’s an excerpt:
“At my offices we teach people to be non-judgmental about calories. They’re not by definition, ‘bad’, it’s just that we have to pick and choose when they’re worth it.”

An article from MSNBC.com cited a study that found:
“Weight loss is not likely to happen without dietary restraint.”
Read the article here. Evidence is suggesting that a persons diet may influence weight loss more than exercise. Hold on, this DOES NOT mean that exercise is a waste of time. There are still tons of reasons for exercise, but to lose weight, eating habits, as well as exercise habits, have to change.
Nothing new there, just a good reminder.
Last on the link list we find a funny spoof on the High Fructose Corn Syrup ads over at A Life Less Sweet. If you haven’t seen the original ad, go here. Then go here to see the funny ad.
Read the posts/articles. They’re good.

Fantastic post! I love the links! Have a nice weekend!
I still struggle with the concept of bad food vs good food. It’s just a matter of eating in moderations and when to eat it.
