How To Make Awesome Guacamole
Posted on January 13, 2009

The wife and I made some awesome guacamole yesterday (pictured above) and I wanted to share the recipe with everyone. Guacamole is a great snack and can provide some great nutrients.
Here’s what you will need:
2-3 Ripe Avocados
1 Red Onion
1 Tomato
1 Lime
Cilantro
Salt & Pepper
Here’s how we do it:
1. Scoop out the good stuff from the avocados and put it in a bowl.
2. Chop up the onion and add it to the avocado. Use as much of the onion as you want. My wife doesn’t like as much onion as me, so we just use probably 1/3 of the chopped onions (we just save the rest).
3. Dice up the tomato and add it to the onions and avocados. Again, use as much of the tomato as you like. I like to use the whole thing.
4. Chop up the cilantro. We use probably a couple of tablespoons of chopped cilantro.
5. Mash it all together.
6. Cut the lime in half and squeeze in the juice from one of the halves. If you really like the lime flavor, use the juice from both halves.
7. Keep mashing and taste it. Add salt and pepper as you like.
We like guacamole with Tostitos chips, but I also had some on a turkey sandwich –it was really good.
If you have any leftover, make sure to cover it in plastic wrap and make sure the plastic is touching the guacamole. This will ensure it keeps its nice green color and tastes fresh later.
Avocados are high in calories, due to their fat content (good fats, though) so make sure you share your guacamole with a bunch of friends! It’s easy to eat the whole bowl before you realize it! Avocados are also good sources of fiber, vitamin K and folate.
Enjoy the guac.
