It’s Our Year
Posted on January 5, 2009
Welcome to 2009! It’s our year. This is the year we take back our health and happiness. This is the year we dump the unhealthy habits. This is the year we commit to healthy lifestyle changes. Who’s with me?
How many thousands (maybe millions) of people are resolving to get healthier this year? Are you one of them? If so, what’s your plan to get healthier? Do you have one or are you just hoping it magically happens?
I would venture to say that most people are starting off today with the new resolutions to get healthier (first Monday after New Year’s). Usually we all start off great with eating better, getting plenty of physical activity and sleep, but then something happens. We get tired. We miss a day. Then we miss a week. Then we forget about even trying.
Not this year. That can’t happen. Our families depend on us, our friends depend on us, and we can’t take our health for granted. If we don’t take care of our bodies, why should they work how we wan’t them to?
I don’t care how you plan on getting healthier but I hope you are smart about it. Use common sense. Know that injections, diet pills, and other snake-oil products are not the way to approach better health.
Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Eat lean meats. Be active. Get enough sleep. A consistent, disciplined effort will give you the results you want. It won’t be overnight, but over time, you will feel better and be healthier.
Visit often for my take on all things health. I’m trying to be healthier and I hope my rants here can help you too.
Have friends or family that are trying to develop healthy habits? Send them over. Cruise around and I think you’ll find some useful info. Also, check out the sites on the sidebar for other great blogs/sites that can help motivate and inspire you to stick with your healthy lifestyle changes.
Again, welcome to 2009. It’s gonna be a great year.
