You Need Your Heart and It Needs You
Posted on January 15, 2009
Last weekend my wife and I went to the BodyWorlds exhibit in Salt Lake City. It was pretty awesome. The last time I got to see stuff like that was at the cadaver lab at BYU.

Above is a heart opened longitudinally (via BodyWorlds.com). Pretty cool to see the chambers of the heart and everything else. After yesterday’s post, now we all know what we are looking at!
Like I said before, I’m fascinated by how our heart works. We need to take care of it, though. Here’s what the American Heart Association says about physical activity and keeping our hearts healthy:
“Physical inactivity is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and most Americans are not physically active enough to gain any health benefits. Swimming, cycling, jogging, skiing, aerobic dancing, walking or many other activities can help your heart. Whether it’s included in a structured exercise program or part of your daily routine, all physical activity adds up to a healthier heart.”
Regular physical activity is great for our hearts. Just like any other muscle, when we work it out, it gets stronger and healthier. That’s a good thing.
Get moving today and most days. Don’t let your heart down.

The heart is a fantastic organ. I wouldn’t want to try to live without it.
When you see one, in the chest, covered with fat, it gives you incentive to lose a few pounds.
Thanks
