Self Discipline

Posted on April 9, 2009

I need more discipline lately. Ever since the kid was born my workouts have been just kinda whatever-I-feel-like.  Because of that, my workouts have not been as intense.  I’m more just going through the motions.  Instead of getting up around 5am to get moving, now I try and get my workouts in the evenings/nights.

There shouldn’t be anything wrong with that, but lately, I find myself wanting to stay in and hang out with my little family instead of hitting the weights, the pool, the bike, or the running trail.

Planning has always helped me stay on track and when I stick to my plan, I always feel that I am making progress.  I gotta get planning and have the discipline to stick to it.

Well now that it’s written, it’s official.  Create the plan.  Stick to the plan.  It’s on.

PS — Someone send me a DM via Twitter early tomorrow morning to wake me up! ;)

I had to laugh when reading this. My husband went through the same struggle after we had our second child. And me? Forget about it! It’s a touch balancing act – especially in the beginning when everyone is so sleep deprived. Good luck with your plan!

    Blake,

Having a new baby in the house can be very hectic for some time. The loss of sleep, the new way of doing things and even the change between your wife and you can all play havoc on a smooth routine. Give yourself some time, you baby will be sleeping through the night and you’ll feel able to get back at the exercise full steam before you know it.
