Thought on Diet Soda

Posted on May 13, 2009

“A University of Texas Health Science Center study found that people who sipped one diet soda a day for seven years were 41 percent more likely to be overweight than non-soda drinkers. The reason: Diet drinks often lead to overeating as people “spend” the calories they just saved on a second slice of pizza or a cookie. There’s also evidence that artificial sweeteners may whet your appetite for more sweets.”

Just something I found interesting.  Drink what you want, but I’m gonna stick with water.

That is interesting. I understand people overeating to compensate for the calories they “saved.” That’s human nature and only the eater can determine who many calories they put in their bodies after drinking diet soda. I want to know more about the artificial sweetener whetting your appetite for more sweets. Is it because you get the taste and want more sugary things or you just want more sweet things. Would more diet soda suffice?

I love water. It’s all I drink, really, besides milk with cereal or things like that. It’s nice to know that it’s so good for me!
