Food for Thought
Posted on November 11, 2009

I’m a proud daddy. My little girl is 8 months old and is now crawling. Pretty exciting stuff. Here she is having a mouthful of something. Probably bananas.
My wife and I obviously try to take care of the little one as best we can. That includes feeding her healthy food, making sure she gets her naps, and making sure she’s as happy as can be.
While we were feeding her the other day I started to think about how when our kids are babies, we feed them such good stuff. Mashed up fruits, veggies, mom’s milk, etc. Plenty of real, whole foods. We make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need to help them develop properly. We want them to be healthy.
We try so hard to make sure our kids get all the good stuff, but what about us? Shouldn’t we also be concerned with our own nutrition? Shouldn’t we want to put real, whole foods into our bodies instead of processed foods with impossible-to-pronounce ingredients?
And while were at it, do we really need special drinks, pills, and supplements that promise every health benefit in the world?
No. We need real food.
Look, I’m not perfect either. I eat crap too. All I’m saying is we should care about what we put into our bodies.
I’m sure you agree that we should care. The problem is that a lot of us don’t.
Just a thought.
