Prevent Breast Cancer

Posted on December 15, 2009

In last Sunday’s newspaper insert of Parade Magazine, I read an article called “Preventing Breast Cancer” by Dr. Ranit Mishori.  This article talked about a report recently published by the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR).  After reviewing more than 900 studies of the links between lifestyle habits and cancer prevention, the report concluded:

“Women can cut their risk of breast cancer by almost half if they watch their weight, exercise daily, breast-feed their babies, and limit alcoholic beverages.”

Also, Susan Higginbotham, director of research at AICR, said:

“We estimate that almost 40% of breast cancer cases in the U.S. –about 70,000 cases a year– could be prevented by making these straight-forward, everyday changes.”

Just something to think about.
