It all Matters
Posted on March 26, 2010
From a letter to the editor in The Ottawa Citizen (found via Obesity Panacea):
The science of obesity is complicated and there are many regulatory and counter-regulatory mechanisms at play biologically, psychologically, behaviorally and environmentally.
But the fundamental laws of health will always be scientifically and intuitively valid: eat and drink healthy foods, get regular physical activity, sleep well and avoid toxic substances.
Promoting and following these simple rules will preserve and maintain the health of the population. Diminishing the importance of any one illustrates a lacking of understanding of the intricate inter-play of lifestyle behaviours.
– Mark Tremblay, Director of Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research (HALO)
Bottom Line: It all matters. Diet, exercise, etc. One is not more important than the other. Deal with it.
By the way, the above linked-to article from Obesity Panacea is a great one, also some great comments. Check it out.
