Plan Better – Healthy Monday
Posted on September 27, 2010
Each Monday, a simple health tip will be posted as part of Healthy Monday. Healthy Monday is a public health initiative founded in 2005 in association with Johns Hopkins University, Syracuse University, and Columbia Univerisity.
Their mission includes ending “chronic preventable disease in the U.S. by offering people and organizations a weekly prompt to start and sustain healthy behaviors.”

Sometimes planning better can help make exercise and healthier eating easier. At the beginning of each week, plan the days and times you will get in your exercise. It doesn’t have to be a ton but some will be better than none. Recruit friends, co-workers or family to join you.
Planning a little better can also help you eat healthier. Get up 5-10 minutes earlier to make sure you can eat a healthy breakfast instead of a donut or a bowl of sugary cereal.
Bring a healthy lunch and snacks to work if you work outside the home instead of always having to battle restaurant foods. If you know you’re going out to eat at night for a special occasion, make an extra effort to eat better during the day.
Plan better today to make the rest of your week healthier. Have a Healthy Monday!
