Constipated? Try This
Posted on April 21, 2011
If you are like most people, chances are you’ve experienced constipation at some time. Here are things you can do to help prevent it:
Fiber
Eat fiber-rich foods, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans. Fiber helps prevent dry, hard stools. You should shoot for 20 to 35 g of fiber each day.
Water
Drink plenty of water each day, especially as you increase your fiber intake. Water and other liquids add fluid to your colon. Avoid drinks that contain caffeine, as this can worsen your symptoms by increasing your risk of dehydration.
Exercise
Exercise keeps your digestive system running smoothly. Make it a part of your lifestyle for overall good health. Shoot for 30 minutes on most days of the week.
All of these things not only help prevent constipation but also improve overall health. A healthy lifestyle can be a happy lifestyle.
Happy pooping!
