Potassium

Posted on September 1, 2010 - Filed Under Fruit, Nutrition, Vegetables | View Comments

Been reading about potassium lately.  It’s good stuff.
“Potassium is crucial to heart function and plays a key role in skeletal and smooth muscle contraction, making it important for normal digestive and muscular function, too.”
Most people need about 2,000 mg each day.  If you’re eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, you shouldn’t have a problem getting [...]

This pic reminded me of my daughter.  She loves watermelon lately.
I love cold watermelon after a long bike ride or run.  So refreshing.  Have any interesting ways to eat watermelon besides just eating it straight-up?

Fruit, Triathlon and Questions to Ask Yourself

Posted on June 18, 2010 - Filed Under Fruit, Triathlon, healthy lifestyle | View Comments

Food today is fuel tomorrow, right?  Or something like that.  This smoothie had skim milk, banana, yogurt, apple, spinanch, and a handful of frozen berries (strawberries, raspberries, bluberries, blackberries).  So good.

Just like mom always said, they are high in Vitamin C, but they also are good sources of folate, potassium, and fiber.
I like to keep some oranges in the fridge so they are nice and cold [...]

Yum Yum Avocado

Posted on November 19, 2009 - Filed Under Fruit, Nutrition, Vegetables | View Comments

Had some turkey burgers for dinner last night topped with some avocado slices.  So good with avocado.  I love those things.  I should’ve taken a picture but I inhaled the food so fast I couldn’t.
Some info about avocados:

“Avocados, like olives, are one fo the few foods that are both rich in healthy fats and free [...]

I’m a proud daddy.  My little girl is 8 months old and is now crawling.  Pretty exciting stuff.  Here she is having a mouthful of something.  Probably bananas.
My wife and I obviously try to take care of the little one as best we can.  That includes feeding her healthy food, making sure she gets her [...]
